December gives us a chance to finish strong and look ahead with intention. We are expanding our Florida office, strengthening our operations team, and continuing to roll out new features and functionality on our dynamic digital portal for agents, Heathos Pulse. Tools like this are just some of the many ways we continue to support innovation across our organization.

Open Enrollment for 2026 plans began on November 1 and runs through January 15. Many states have a December 15 deadline for January 1 coverage. Now is the time to act:

Use the Power of Recap
At the end of every client interaction, give a thirty second recap of what was covered and what the next step is. This reinforces trust, reduces confusion, and helps set clear expectations during the busiest weeks of the season.

CMS has issued reminders for agents to verify household data carefully during peak weeks. Inaccurate income or household sizing continues to be one of the top drivers of PTC reconciliation issues for consumers. Now is a good time to review your intake forms and documentation practices.
Industry data suggests that proactive, clear communication during Open Enrollment supports improved member understanding and continuity of coverage. This is a strong reminder to communicate early and keep outreach clear and consistent.

With more than 13 years in the health insurance space, Luis Maldonado brings a rare mix of front line experience, operational leadership, and partner-focused problem solving to Heathos and FirstEnroll. His background spans sales leadership, compliance, call center operations, and product strategy, giving him a deep understanding of what agencies need to grow sustainably and serve members with confidence.
In his role as Senior Account Manager, Luis works closely with our agency partners to expand and optimize their portfolios across ACA, limited medical, Medicare, and ancillary lines. He is known for helping teams implement new offerings thoughtfully and compliantly while keeping retention and long term member relationships at the center of the strategy.
Luis stays active across the U65 and Medicare ecosystem, regularly attending industry events to stay ahead of shifting regulations, subsidy expectations, and evolving consumer preferences. He brings that market intelligence back to our partners, ensuring they can adapt early, stay competitive, and remain operationally prepared for emerging market changes.
